Community Hi-Fi

Community Hi Fi is an Irish roots reggae sound system currently based in North London.

Formed in 2011, the Sound’s first session was a large outdoor event in Sonairte, Laytown County Meath, The following year the sound played a number of dances including a session with Ireland’s first sound system, Firehouse Skank.

2013 saw the Community Sound be the first reggae sound system to play in Derry when they played at Londonderry City of Culture festival. 2013 also saw Channel One and Aba Shanti (his first Irish performance) play on the Community sound at dances in Dublin.

2014 the sound moved back North London where it is now based. Since then the Community have played at numerous dances across London and the UK. The sound has played along side a number of UK sound systems including: Ballistic Rootical, Touch Above, Government Sound, Government Turbomatic, Ital Guidance, Sharpatone, Oneness High Vibration, Negus Negast and Glady Wax.

We have added Rim Bim (prominent UK roots musician & selector) as a selector and use Bengi Roots as an MC.

The sound plays strictly Roots and Culture using mainly Vinyl but also dub plates on Cd. Our aim is to play uplifting reggae music for each and every one.
