Laurie Shaw

Laurie Shaw is a Cork based musician, originally hailing from the Wirral, UK. He has recorded and released over 70 albums, all written and recorded in his bedroom studio.

Though these albums have a predominant foot in rock’n’roll he also dabbles in many other genres including 60s and 70s style pop music, soul and hip hop. He and his band, The Swamp People have performed various gigs around the country including Body & Soul Festival and Electric Picnic as well as supporting Wirral hero Bill Ryder Jones. In 2016, he released a 30 song double album, Felted Fruit, with UK-based psychedelic label Sunstone Records; “While Shaw’s recording methods could most accurately be described as raw, marked by distorted guitar, sudden stops and occasionally chaotic percussion, they’re never out of place with his bursts of vital, energetic psych” (The Arts Desk).

In January of this year, Shaw released his album Weird Weekends, a sonic delve into his teenage years living in a small town; “it’s a brilliantly-realised effort that veers between indie, inward-looking ballads and laments, as well as straight-up riff-slinging guitar rock” (The Thin Air).
