Over the last decade, Rob DC has been a pioneer of bass music scene in Ireland. As a main figure in key Irish label, soundsystem and clubnight – DubCulture – Rob established a space for bass heavy music in the west of Ireland which still exists today.
In 2015, he launched a new record label – Rua Sound – with longtime collaborator, Welfare to critical acclaim. Rua Sound has quickly turned heads, with DJ Mag, RA and Ninja Ninja noting the label as one to watch out for over the course of 2016. The The Rua Sound project is an outlet to burrow into and push areas of bass heavy, high velocity electronic music, all the while taking aim squarely at the dancefloor. To date it has published music by Sully, Sam Binga, TMSV, Taiko and Touchy Subject, with heaps more to come in 2017.
Now resident in Belgium, Rob has played all over Ireland and Europe at festivals and club nights and supported the biggest acts in the game, much too numerous to mention. For many years he curated the seminal DubCulture club nights, bringing guests such as included Mala, Kahn, dBridge, Trevino, Objekt, Loefah and Pinch.
His sets take in fresh, fast, frenetic rhythms loaded with dubs and exclusives from the Rua Sound vaults.
He holds down fortnightly residency on Brussels based radio.
